People Donate Blood At Donorama In Bowling Green

A special blood drive took place in Bowling Green Tuesday.

It's in honor of Bill Leachman, who lost his leg in 2006 after he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.

People came out to the blood drive called Donorama at Greenwood High School.

The American Red Cross says the need for donors is critical and they welcome all blood types.

They say they need donations so desperately, they are even importing blood from other regions.

"Another time, I gave to a family where a mother was able to go home to see her children for Thanksgiving and I felt like a billionaire so I have donated ever since," says P.T. Barnum, who donated blood.

The American Red Cross says every two seconds, someone needs blood.

Donorama went on until 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
