Kentucky Scout Returns Eagle Badge to Protest Gay Ban

The Boy Scouts of America emphatically reaffirmed its policy of excluding gays this month after a confidential two-year review.
Several Eagle Scouts were prompted by the move to return their badges with letters complaining about the decision to leaders of the organization.
WFPL reports that Jackson Cooper, who is a former senior patrol leader of Louisville Troop 342, says in his letter that he thinks the decision has damaged the organization's reputation.
Cooper said it sends the wrong message to boys as they "realize their sexual orientation."
He also says it "breaks my heart" to know that the organization would turn away his now-deceased mother because she was a lesbian.
