A man wanted for felony kidnapping and rape led police on a chase near Bowling Green yesterday morning, ending with a crash.

Kentucky State Police say a trooper tried to pull over 34-year-old James Coitrone of Scottsville who was on on his motorcycle around 9:30 AM on Veteran's Memorial.

They say once he saw the trooper's lights he took off.

The pursuit lasted about one mile through a congested area.

At one point Coitrone suddenly switched lanes and braked to avoid oncoming traffic.

That caused the trooper to make contact with the back of his motorcycle.

Coitrone was air-lifted to Vanderbilt Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
