L.C. Starks, 90, of Scottsville, died at 6:28 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.

The Scottsville native was a retired employee of Dollar General Corp. and the Turner Family, where he worked for more than 55 years. As a graduate of the Warren School of Trades, he was certified in woodworking and cabinet making. He was also an avid gardener and someone who never met a stranger. As a dedicated member of Scottsville First Baptist Church, he served faithfully as a deacon for more than 50 years and co-chaired the Men and Women’s Day programs with his wife. He was a member of the Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge #28 of Bowling Green for more than 60 years and a World War II Army veteran. He was a son of the late Alonzo and Ethel Richey Starks and husband of the late Ruby Ferguson Starks.

To cherish his memory and celebrate his life, he is survived by a devoted son, Rick Starks and his wife, Saundra, of Bowling Green; two beloved grandchildren, Derrick Starks (Kimberly) and Shannon Starks (William), all of Nashville; a sister, Evangeline Soules of Scottsville; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, J.L. Starks; and two sisters, Ida Waif Hodge and Irene Calvert.

Funeral services for L.C. Starks will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Roscoe Robey officiating and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors by Fort Campbell. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Ancient Landmark Lodge #28 will hold masonic rites at 7 p.m. today at Goad Funeral Home.
