Hayward Gray, 70, of Bowling Green, died at 1:02 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at his residence.

The Butler County native was a son of the late Ezra Gray and Annie Martin Gray and was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Enoch Gray; a grandson, Floyd Cooper Staten; and a brother, Denzil Gray. He was a truck driver, mill worker, farmer and member of Emanuel Baptist Church and Buckville Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Kieffer Gray; eight children, Anita Marie Nealy (Steve), Diane Lynn Brown, Linda Faye Russell (Eugene), Kimberly Sue Gray, Ernest Lee Gray (Connie), Cardellia Renee Murphy (Lloyd), Avanelle Martin (George) and John “Mark” Gray; a grandchild he raised, Misty Smith (Chuck), along with 24 other grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Thomas Gray and Jerry Allen Gray; and two sisters, Retha Mae Taylor Cherry and Iva Dean Phelps (Kenneth).

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
