Homer Jerry Wimpee, 74, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at The Medical Center at Scottsville.
The Allen County native was the son of the late Homer Lewis Wimpee and Ora Lucille Bandy Wimpee. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Lee Wimpee; two sisters, Reba Jo Lear and Mary Katherine Wimpee; and a brother, Billie C. Wimpee. The Army and Air Force veteran was a member of the Scottsville Baptist Church, Halfrey Dalton VFW #5712, DAV #152, Military order of the cooties, FOP Lodge #36, Kosair Shriners, Graham Lodge F&AM #208 and member and part worthy patron of Scottsville Chapter #60 Order of Eastern Star. He served Allen County as sheriff from 1982 to 1986.
He is survived by his wife Linda Wimpee; a sister, Gracie Jewell Wimpee of Scottsville; a brother, Larry Neal Wimpee of Brandenburg; an uncle, Walter “Buster” Wimpee of Scottsville; a special niece, Jerri Leigh Terry of Scottsville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Masonic Service followed by Order of Eastern Star Service begins at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the T.W. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in the Mt. Pleasant UMC cemetery.
