Bowling Green, KY--The Hilltoppers were unable to take advantage of some good fortune Thursday, falling 5-3 to South Alabama to effectively end their season.
Earlier in the day, WKU received some help from Louisiana-Monroe, as the Warhawks defeated Florida Atlantic 9-7 in 13 innings. The loss by the Owls kept the Toppers' chances of reaching the Sun Belt Tournament championship game alive. However, WKU's defeat to the Jaguars dashed its hopes of advancing past the tournament.
The Hilltoppers play their final game of the season against ULM, which has already clinched a spot in the championship game, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
