Former WKU Football Player Arrested for Attempted Murder

Kissimmee, FL--Former WKU football player Bobby Sippio was arrested Friday in Osceola County, Florida on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, and kidnapping.

The victim told Osceola County Sheriff's deputies he got into a vehicle with Sippio and Santana Omar Coats, two individuals he knew. The victim was told he was going to help move furniture. Instead, Sippio and Coates drove to a back road in Kissimmee, Florida where the victim says they forced him out of the vehicle and battered him. After the altercation, the two suspects drove the victim back to his residence and threatened to kill him at gunpoint.

Detectives brought Sippio and Coates in for questioning, but neither cooperated with the investigation. Based on the victim's statement and evidence obtained during the investigation, Sippio and Coats were booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Sippio played for the Hilltoppers from 1999-2001. He holds the record at WKU for interceptions in a career with 19. In 2000, Sippio posted a school-record ten interceptions.

Throughout his professional career, Sippio has spent time with three NFL teams: the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs. His NFL career never took off.

Sippio found success, however, playing in the Arena Football League. He was a star for the Chicago Rush. In 2007, Sippio recorded 125 receptions for 1,742 and 53 touchdowns. Sippio currently plays for the Orlando Predators. Through nine games, Sippio has played in four with 27 catches for 334 yards and nine touchdowns.

Sippio has found himself in trouble before. In 2004, he was shot after a party in Bowling Green, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries. As a player at WKU, Sippio was suspended by then head coach Jack Harbaugh in August 2000 for conduct and attitude unbecoming a Western football player.
