WKU Hosts Louisiana-Monroe for Sun Belt Series at Nick Denes Field

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Western Kentucky University baseball team closes the month of April with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series this weekend against Louisiana-Monroe at Nick Denes Field. Game times are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Noon Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

WKU (17-24, 8-10) is currently sixth in the league standings with Louisiana-Monroe (19-22, 7-11) tied for seventh with Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas-Little Rock. The Hilltoppers are 5-4 at home in league play and enter the weekend one game in front of the Warhawks.

Saturday's game will be televised on the Sun Belt Network and CSS. Richard Cross will be handling play-by-play duties, and Ronnie Rantz is the color analyst for this week's Sun Belt Conference game of the week.

All games will be broadcast live on the Big Red Radio Network, and live stats, live video and live audio will be available for all three games as well.

The Hilltoppers wrap their current nine-game homestand on Tuesday against Louisville at Bowling Green Ballpark. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The Cardinals are ranked No. 20 by NCBWA, No. 23 by USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and No. 26 by Collegiate Baseball in polls released Monday. WKU then travels for back-to-back SBC weekends at Florida Atlantic and South Alabama.

Numerous promotions are slated to take place at the ballpark this weekend.

Friday is "Resident Appreciation Day" where the first 200 WKU Housing Students into the game will receive a free President Ransdell bobble-head courtesy of WKU Housing and Residence Life.

Saturday is "Bark in the Park" where fans can bring in any one of the following items for the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society and receive complimentary admission into this game: clay cat litter, bleach, or copy paper. Also, bring your (leashed) dog out to the park.

On Sunday, there will be a post-game autograph session with members of the WKU baseball team and Centerplate offers a Sunday Special where fans can purchase one hot dog, a small popcorn and a small drink for $5.
