Midland, MI - Todd Glaesmann hit a three-run home run, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (25-23) fell to the Great Lakes Loons (25-23) 9-6 in a Friday night rubber match at Dow Diamond. The Loons scored eight runs from the second to the fifth innings to send the Hot Rods to their seventh series loss on the road this season. Joel Caminero and Juniel Querecuto also contributed with RBI's. For the sixth time in as many nights on the road trip, the Hot Rods scored the first run of the game. In the top of the second, Jeff Malm doubled to deep centerfield and Taylor Motter singled to place runners at first and second base with no outs. Todd Glaesmann then hammered a pitch to deep left field for a moon-shot, three-run home run to give Bowling Green the early 3-0 lead.
After the Loons scored the next six runs in the game, the Hot Rods got back on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the fourth. With runners at first and second base and one out, Joel Caminero doubled off of the wall in left field to score one run. The next batter was Juniel Querecuto, who drove in his seventh run of the season on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. After three and-a-half frames, the Loons held a 6-5 lead over the Hot Rods.
The Hot Rods added a run in the top of the eighth inning on a Jeff Malm single, but the team could not overcome the early deficit placed on them by the Loons. With the win, the Loons jump back into a second place tie with the Hot Rods for the second and final playoff spot in the Eastern Division.
