Bowling Green, Ky. — ESPN and the Sun Belt Conference announced on Wednesday that Western Kentucky University’s home football game against Southern Mississippi on Sept. 22 will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN3.com.

The 6 p.m. (CDT) kickoff from Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium will be the first-ever matchup between the Hilltoppers and Golden Eagles. Southern Miss finished the 2011 season with a 12-2 record, knocking off previously undefeated Houston to win the Conference USA championship, before concluding its season with a victory over Nevada in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

This will be the third announced television game for the Hilltoppers in 2012. A pair of Thursday-night contests — Oct. 11 at Troy and Nov. 1 against Middle Tennessee — will be shown on ESPNU. Additional television opportunities, including the announcement of the Sun Belt Network schedule, will be released in July.
