Bowling Green, Ky. - Preseason watch lists for several national college football awards will be released over the next two weeks, and already several members of the Western Kentucky University football team are drawing attention.

Five Hilltoppers have been named to position watch lists for the 2012 College Football Performance Awards. Offensively, WKU is represented by senior tight end Jack Doyle, while senior defensive lineman Quanterus Smith and junior linebacker Andrew Jackson were part of their respective position lists on the defensive side of the ball. On special teams, junior punter Hendrix Brakefield and kickoff returner John Evans were among those named to the preseason list.

The goal of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

As prominent scholars from a wide variety of disciplines note, CFPA eliminates the politics that vitiate balloting-based awards. Furthermore, CFPA is the only awards organization to receive praise from both Republican and Democratic White House officials for promoting objectivity and fairness in college football.
