BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-- The former commander of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the chief justice of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and a former NBA championship team member will join WKU's Hall of Distinguished Alumni this fall.

Retired Brig Gen. Dan Cherry, Justice John D. Minton Jr. and hoops star Greg Smith will be inducted during the 2013 Homecoming celebration on Oct. 25 in Bowling Green.

Cherry was awarded the Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster and the Air Medal with 34 oak leaf clusters during his Air Force career.

Minton was elected to the Kentucky Supreme Court in 2006 and was sworn in as Kentucky's chief justice in 2008.
