A routine 911 call quickly took a turn for the worse early Sunday morning. Bowling Green Police responded to the 1100 block of Clay Street just before 2 a.m. and found 46-year-old Gregory Harrison of Brownsville intoxicated and shouting at officers.

"Mr. Harrison advised he was in a parking lot with a gun. According to the Bowling Green Police Department dispatch, Mr. Harrison refused to answer any of their questions only stating they were refusing to help him," says Trooper Jonathan Biven of the Kentucky State Police, who are leading the investigation.

Police say Harrison ran to nearby railroad tracks, demanding for officers to shoot him, as he was hiding his hands.

"Mr. Harrison started to approach the officers and refused their verbal commands," says Trooper Biven.

As he became more aggressive he was shot once by Bowling Green Police Officer Keith Casada Jr., a two year member of the force. Gregory Harrison was taken to The Medical Center where he died.

Neighbors in the Clay Street area say they heard a loud commotion last night and when they came outside police were lining the streets.

"I laid down and I kept hearing some kind of commotion that I thought was gun shots and I wasn't sure. I laid down, it's like I felt weird, I felt as if something might have been wrong," says Amanda, who lives in the neighborhood.

Amanda's concerns were right as the shooting occurred across the street from her home. Her worry continues because she has two children and says there are others that live nearby.

"I have two very small children and there is other people that have children on this block and by all means we need to keep our children safe because violence is not the answer," says Amanda.

As normal protocol, Officer Casada has been placed on administrative leave. The shooting is being investigated by Kentucky State Police.

Many neighbors in the area say they are not familiar with the victim, Gregory Harrison.

Harrison's body has been taken to Louisville for an autopsy.
