FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Steve Beshear will serve as chairman of the National Governors Association's committee on education and the workforce.
The appointment was announced Wednesday by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, the NGA chairwoman, and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, NGA vice chairman.
Beshear's committee deals with educational issues at all levels, from early childhood to postsecondary, plus issues relating to training workers for the labor force.
Beshear, who will serve a one-year term, said the issues his committee deals with are constant priorities for all governors.
The NGA represents all of the nation's governors in matters of federal policy.
