Big Dog Causes Bike Wreck, 2 Taken to Hospital

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) -- State troopers say a crash that hurt two teens on bicycles was the fault of a dog.

Kentucky State Police said several people were riding bicycles on Kentucky Rt. 657 near Owensboro on Thursday when a large dog ran in front of them.

Nineteen-year-old Dakota Watkins couldn't avoid the dog, struck it and was thrown from his bike. Then, 13-year-old Megan Sims couldn't steer around Watkins and her bike struck him. Both Watkins and Sims were wearing bicycle helmets. Both Owensboro residents were taken to the Owensboro Medical Health System by ambulance for medical treatment.

The dog couldn't be found.
