SMITHLAND, Ky. (AP) -- A western Kentucky man whose dog was deemed vicious after the animal attacked a 5-year-old boy and his mother in May has been arrested after police searched for them for more than a month.
26-year-old Wesley Wooldridge of Livingston County faces charges of stealing a dog from the Crittenden County Animal Shelter after the dog was seized following the attack.
Livingston County Sheriff Bobby Davidson says the pit bull allegedly got loose in the area of Three Rivers Machine Shop at Ledbetter in May.
Police say the dog attempted to attack officers during a search of a house near Symsonia on Saturday. Detectives shot and killed the animal.
It was unclear Monday if Wooldridge had an attorney.
