CORBIN, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police say a shooting in eastern Kentucky has left a man dead and a sheriff's deputy injured.

WLEX-TV and WKYT-TV report a Knox County sheriff's deputy was called to a home near Corbin late Monday night due to a domestic disturbance.

Police say 44-year-old Jeffrey Frump fired at the officer, hitting him in the leg. Deputy Brian Hensley returned fire, killing Frump.

Police say the deputy was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life threatening.

An investigation into the shooting continues.
