First Lady Announces Jobs Website for Veterans at Ft. Campbell

"Every service member, every veteran, and every military member will have access to a new online tool that will revolutionize how you find jobs in both the public and private sectors," said First Lady Michelle Obama.

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WBKO)-- Wednesday at Ft. Campbell the message was all about hiring veterans, and First Lady Michelle Obama highlighted this with the unveiling of a new website that will do just that.

"Every service member, every veteran, and every military member will have access to a new online tool that will revolutionize how you find jobs in both the public and private sectors," said First Lady Michelle Obama.

That new website is ebenefits.va.gov and it will help veterans and military spouses improve their job hunting skills.

This is just the latest step in the efforts the First Lady and Second Lady have put forth into putting hundreds of thousands of veterans back to work.

"As we celebrate the third anniversary of Joining Forces, that number has risen to 540,000 jobs. That's over half a million jobs in just three years," said Obama.

Another aspect of military families the dignitaries are focused on, are the spouses, and Dr. Jill Biden said that program has grown a lot as well.

"When we started there were just under 60 companies that had signed on, I'm thrilled to say that today there are 228 partner employers," said Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

For one Kentucky woman this is good news, but who is delivering the message is inspiring to her also.

"Every woman should support another woman in education and employment, just being a mom. I just had a baby three months ago, so it's great to have an icon to look up to," said military spouse Jennifer Morris.

It's fitting that Wednesday's event was here in Hangar three, a place that often serves as a transition from soldiers in deployment to back home. Wednesday it was another transition, it was about putting them back to work in the civilian world.

There were several companies and universities there today from Delta Airlines to Cracker Barrel and several other companies to help find the men and women who have served find a job.
