HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Hopkinsville Police Department has released information regarding an accident where a 4-year-old lost her life.
According to Hopkinsville Police Officials, A 4-year-old girl was killed in a single vehicle collision on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Hopkinsville on Tuesday evening. Brooklyn Coleman, of Hopkinsville, was pronounced deceased when the SUV she was a back seat passenger in lost control when crossing a bridge which was covered with ice at approximately 6:00 PM. The SUV then left the roadway and struck a guardrail before coming to rest. Brooklyn was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision by Christian County Coroner Dorris Lamb.
The 1998 Ford Explorer was being driven by 29-year-old Amber K. Coleman of Hopkinsville and another passenger in the vehicle was 29 year old Brian F. Baker, also of Hopkinsville. Amber Coleman was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Jennie Stuart Medical Center while Brian Baker sustained no serious injuries.
It appears Brooklyn Coleman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Both Amber Coleman and Brian Baker were wearing seatbelts.
