Inappropriate Medication Lead to License Surrender

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) -- A doctor in Winchester surrendered his license to practice medicine because of allegations that he inappropriately prescribed several medications, including the painkiller Oxycodone.

Quentin F. Murray may not apply for reinstatement of his license for two years under a deal reached Thursday with Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.

In May, the board suspended Murray's license in an emergency order. Board documents allege that Murray inappropriately prescribed several medications to a woman with whom he was having a sexual affair. The order also said that Murray was not "legally entitled" to prescribe methadone to a 32-year-old man who then died in 2010 after suffering cardiac arrest.
