SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- A 21-year-old man who escaped from a Kentucky jail this past summer is scheduled to appear in a central New York court on burglary charges.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that Luis Dechoudens is due to appear Thursday in a Syracuse court for a string of local burglaries.

Dechoudens and his 19-year-old brother were arrested by Onondaga County sheriff's deputies on July 31, two weeks after he escaped form Kentucky's Christian County Jail. Officials say he climbed the pole of a basketball hoop to reach a ledge, then cut a hole in a chain-link fence, squeezed through and made his escape.

He also faces burglary charges in Kentucky. Officials say he was also was wanted in Tennessee for other burglaries and for shooting at a barge on the Cumberland River in March 2011.
