HAZARD, Ky. (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky man has been charged with murder in the death of woman whose body was found alongside a highway a week after she went missing.
Kentucky State Police say they arrested 37-year-old Gary W. Ward of Meally in Johnson County on Thursday after a grand jury indicted him in the death of 34-year-old Christina Barnett. Her burned body was found in September in Knott County. Ward also faces charges of tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
He was taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard. It was unclear whether Ward has an attorney.
