CYNTHIANA, Ky. (AP) -- Police say two females have been taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck on the side of a road.

Police say the accident happened early Thursday on U.S. 27 in Cynthiana. Police said the driver, Larry Baldwin, told police he was headed home from work and fell asleep at the wheel.
