CYNTHIANA, Ky. (AP) -- Police say two females have been taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries after being struck on the side of a road.
Police say the accident happened early Thursday on U.S. 27 in Cynthiana. Police said the driver, Larry Baldwin, told police he was headed home from work and fell asleep at the wheel. Police said Baldwin told them he awoke after hitting rumble strips at which point he struck the females, who were walking alongside the highway.
Police have not released the names of the pedestrians who were hit.
