LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The University of Louisville is hosting a workshop next week aimed at encouraging women to run for office -- both on college campuses and beyond.

The five-hour workshop is set for Nov. 9 in the Floyd Theater at the Student Activities Center on the Belknap Campus.

College women from across Louisville are expected to attend. The event will feature research and information about women and politics.

Guest speaker will be Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Angela Bisig.

Linda Hallman, executive director of the American Association of University Women, says the event is meant to train women to bridge the gender leadership gap. By encouraging college women to become political leaders on their own campuses, she says it will set them up for success in leadership roles later in life.
