CAWOOD, Ky. (AP) — One of two people injured when a train struck a truck trying to cross tracks in eastern Kentucky has died.

Kentucky State Police said on Tuesday that 44-year-old Rodney Bolin died Monday night after being airlifted to a hospital in Kingsport, Tenn. Police said they did not know the condition of his 9-year-old son, who was taken to a hospital in Johnson City, Tenn.

Police said the two were injured at about 10:30 a.m. EDT Sunday near the Cawood community of Harlan County.

Troopers say Bolin tried to drive his 2011 Nissan Frontier across the tracks when an oncoming CSX train struck the truck on the driver-side door.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
