You've probably heard the excuses before for why you or your loved one may be checking out someone new.

"It's just a natural thing to look," admitted WKU student Daniel Bragg.

"I think part of it's habit honestly," added WKU student Baron Bentley.

"It's nature," Bragg continued.

"I usually just tell him to stop checking her out," WKU student Michelle Bubnis assured.

You may even have a way to avoid getting caught--

"Look away when they look at you," WKU student Andrew Kallstrom explained.

"Pretend to stare at the wall behind them. That's one of my favorites," WKU student Joey Elder added.

If you get caught staring, no worries. A new research study says you can't help it! You can't control that impulse to look.

"That makes pretty good sense to me I suppose," Bragg said.

A study that's ironically called "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" says the fixation on a beautiful face happens so quickly that it's involuntary.

However, that excuse only lasts for 100 milliseconds.

"100 milliseconds isn't that long," Bentley said.

"That can be your new excuse," we told two WKU students.

"I think I'll use that one," admitted Andrew Kallstrom and Joey Elder.

So while some guys and girls may not care if their loved one is looking at someone new--

"I wouldn't actually get mad at him. I don't know, I've pointed them out to him before, like 'That girls cute,'" said WKU student Sally Fakes.

And some are sure they aren't being caught--

"Guess I'm too slick for that," Bragg assured.

Others say they'll use the results from this study as much as possible.

"Thanks for helping me check out girls," Elder said.

The study also shows when participants were primed to think about an event that made them jealous they fixated on an attractive face of the same sex, not the opposite sex.
