A collaboration of non-profit organizations and social services are working together to help needy families during the upcoming tax season.
This is the second year the Barren River Asset Building Coalition has helped low to moderate income working families for free.
In 2006, the coalition served more than 1100 taxpayers and say it is very important to have free sites for people to use.
"Mostly a way to educate folks about the earned income tax credit and to make sure they're using a tax preparer who knows about it and make sure they take full advantage of it," said Mary O'Doherty, a Ky. Asset Success Initiative.
Last year the coalition helped nearly 20-percent of the families that used their service claim the earned income tax credit, which they say is a big anti-poverty tool.
They are hoping to have their sites open by mid-January 2008.
They will be in Allen, Barren, Butler, Green, Simpson, and Warren County.
