The Kentucky State Fair will offer some new Midway rides this year in an effort to make up for the loss of amusement park rides at Kentucky Kingdom.

A statement from the fair board says the Midway operator will bring more than 50 Midway rides.

That's up from 42 last year.

Rides had been offered at Kentucky Kingdom since 1989, but operator Six Flags filed for bankruptcy protection and announced in February it was closing the state's largest theme park.

The Kentucky State Fair runs from August 19th through the 29th.
