Couples Question: Who Keeps the Ring if the Wedding's Called Off?
It's a big question in many states. If you get engaged and then the wedding gets called off, who keeps the ring? While Kentucky does not have a law that decides who gets the ring, in Tennessee the debate may soon be over.

It's a big question in many states.
If you get engaged and then the wedding gets called off, who keeps the ring?
While Kentucky does not have a law that decides who gets the ring, in Tennessee the debate may soon be over.
The courts have handed down a ruling specifically for this circumstance.
It began in Knox County, Tenn., when a former television reporter was ordered by a judge to return her $35,000 ring to her former fiancee.
The judge said the ring was a conditional gift given in contemplation of marriage.
It's a debate many couples have spoken about.
"We've talked about it before, and basically if I call off the wedding, he gets the ring back. If he calls off the wedding, then I get to keep the ring," admitted Paige Kennamer, who's engaged.
"I'm going to take the engagement ring back though, because that's a diamond," added Pat Scaglione, who's in favor of getting the ring back.
