Communities Notice Strange Odor and Taste in Their Water

Statewide, several communities are complaining about a strange odor and an odd taste in their water.

People are noticing a musty or earthy smell to their tap water.

The Kentucky Division of Water says there's nothing wrong with the water.

It's been treated and it's safe to drink.

The issue is being blamed on the drought.

The problem surfaced in the past two weeks and officials say if we get some rain and cooler temperatures, it should clear up.

If you notice this problem at your home, try using a filtration system or put the water in the refrigerator for a day or two before drinking it.

That will help the taste.
