Franklin Plane Crash Leaves Two with Minor Injuries

A single-engine plane crash leaves two people with minor cuts.

The crash occurred at a privately owned air strip at 262 Sulfur Springs Church Rd.

The Simpson County Sheriff's Office received a call around 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 from one of the two on the plane while they were trying to land the Thorp T-18.

Deputy Eddy Lawson said passenger John Renfrow from Bowling Green and pilot Terry Richardson from Franklin, Ky. had to be rescued with the jaws of life.

It took rescuers about 20 minutes to extract them from the plane.

Lawson says preliminary investigation indicates that they were in the process of landing when the plane flipped over.

The cause of crash is still under investigation.
