Police in Henderson are conducting a death investigation in Ohio County.

Kentucky State Police received a disturbance call at a residence on Morning Dr. in Hartford at around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 17.

Robert Casey was located outside the residence and moments later the body of 43-year-old Theresa Hicks of Hartford was discovered in a vehicle in front of the home.

Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ohio County coroner.

Police say Casey and Hicks had been in a physical altercation at a different location earlier in the evening.

As of Oct. 18, Casey has been charged with violation of an emergency protective order, domestic violence order, assault second-degree and DUI.

The assault second-degree charge stems from an incident that occurred earlier in the evening with a different person.

According to Kentucky State Police, further investigation into the death of Theresa Hicks is being treated as a homicide.

Preliminary autopsy findings indicate that Hicks died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma.

In addition to the original charges on Robert Casey, he has been charged with murder for the death of Hicks.

The investigation is ongoing.
