Candidates Clash in Republican Presidential Debate

The Republican presidential candidates wasted no time in ripping into each other at a debate in Florida on Oct. 21.

Front-runners Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney defended their conservative credentials in the face of pointed attacks from campaign rivals.

The clashes in the early moments of a 90-minute debate prompted former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee to say he wanted no part of a "demolition derby" with others of his own party.

Whatever their disagreements among themselves, the eight rivals agreed on one issue, when they all took turns criticizing Hillary Rodham Clinton--the Democratic front-runner.

The Republican candidates will have the chance to face off again at the next major debate on November 6 in Iowa.
