Louisville Police Chief Dies Blocking Traffic

The chief of the Forest Hills Police Department died Oct. 29, while blocking traffic for construction crews in Louisville, Ky.

Sixty-seven-year-old Randy Wells was using his car and emergency lights to block traffic for three vehicles doing maintenance work on the Gene Synder Freeway.

A truck ran into Wells' car, pushing it into the vehicle ahead.

The truck then continued to hit all three construction vehicles.

Wells, who had been the city's police chief for 16 years, died of multiple injuries at the scene.

No charges have been filed.
