Man Accused of Killing UK Football Player Fights New Lawsuit

The man who pleaded guilty to the shooting death of a University of Kentucky football player is now fighting a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the victim's family.

Shane Ragland was accused of targeting Trent Digiuro in revenge for keeping him out of a fraternity.

Ragland was convicted of murder in 2002 and sentenced to 30 years in prison, but he won a new trial.

Rather than facing a new trial he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The plea deal was for time served and an additional three days of home incarceration.

Ragland's attorney says his client's guilty plea does not automatically establish liability for the 1994 slaying.

He says a jury should decide whether Ragland is liable.
