This is a somber Halloween for the Bowling Green Police Dept.
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the death of their first officer to die in the line of duty.
Master Police Officer David Whitson was accidentally shot by another policeman when he and two other officers were responding to a call.
Police from around the Commonwealth and nearby states attended his funeral to pay their respects.
Bowling Green Police Chief Doug Hawkins says Whitson was someone who could find humor in all situations and was a man everyone liked.
