Usually your children bring home report cards, but now, the tables have turned.

Thursday morning, the Kentucky Department of Education released results from the 2002 Kentucky Core Content Test, which is part of the Commonwealth Accountability Testing system, or CATS.

School officials consider the test results very important. “They’re important because they trigger a number of possible consequences at the state level with the Kentucky Department of Education,” says John Settle, Bowling Green Schools Superintendent.

Reward schools have achieved their baseline goals, progressive schools have made progress, and assistance schools will receive help from the state to achieve higher test scores.

In the Warren County School District, all schools except Greenwood, Warren East, and Warren Central schools achieved reward school status. The three high schools fall into the progressive category.

In the Bowling Green Independent School District, five schools will receive rewards, Parker Bennett Elementary is a progressive school, while LC Curry and Dishman-McGinnis are in the assistance category.
