Police in Finland say an 18-year-old gunman has killed eight people at a high school before shooting himself.
They say the gunman survived the attempted suicide.
According to police, the high school's principal is among the dead.
They say the gunman was taken to a hospital with serious wounds and that the situation is now under control.
It's the first known school shooting in Finland, a country in which gun ownership by European standards is fairly common but shootings are rare.
