From the outside of this Glasgow home, at 120 Newman Street, there's no sign of the discovery made last Friday. Toys litter the yard, but inside the home's kitchen a newborn baby girl's body was thrown away.

Detective Hugh England, with Glasgow Police Department says, "From further investigation, it somewhat turned out that the mother of the stillborn child requested an ambulance. Requested 911 service on Friday morning somewhere around 6:00 in the morning due to some pain she was experiencing. Maybe some excessive bleeding and so forth."

The female infant was an estimated 22-25 weeks old when she was found in the garbage can.

Detective England says, "And while loading the mother into the ambulance it's my understanding, she notified the ambulance personnel that there was an infant in a garbage can that was located inside the kitchen area."

Both the infant and the mother were taken to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow. From there, the baby's body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Louisville. The Glasgow Police Department is awaiting toxicology reports before determining whether the mother of the baby will face any charges.

Detective England says, "We're concerned somewhat about the concealment of the fetus and how things were kind of carried out."

Whether or not substance abuse or drugs are a factor in this case is still under investigation by the Glasgow Police Department. Until then, police are not releasing the name of the baby's mother. She has been released from the hospital and WBKO did contact the mother, but she tells us she has no comment.
