Bargain hunters braved the cold weather throughout the country, lining up ready to start shopping even before the stores opened this Nov. 23.
Most stores offered some type of shopping gimmick on Nov. 23, such as "door busters" and expanded hours.
But, it wasn't only the serious shoppers who turned out in the wee-morning hours.
"It's good to come out and spread the Christmas cheer," said one shopper.
Retailers are hoping you'll spread some Christmas cash too!
The day after Thanksgiving is dubbed "Black Friday" because it marks the day when retailers move out of the red, indicating losses, and into the black, representing profits.
