The state's Board of Education plans to announce its pick for education commissioner on Sunday.
The board interviewed four finalists for the $200,000 a year job.
They include, Morehead Professor Richard Hughes, Jim Warford from the Florida Association Of School Administrators, State Representative Jon Draud, and Owensboro Superintendent Larry Vick.
"I am confident that we do a commissioner in mind who definitely can lead Kentucky schools and who will have the support of key stake holders of education in Kentucky. And we are very hopeful that Governor Beshear will support the commissioner as well," said Janna Vice, of the State School Board
After his election, Governor-elect Steve Beshear asked the board to start over, saying its search had taken place in a period of political turmoil in Kentucky.
