Dwindling food supplies have area charities asking for your help.
Staffers at Community Action of Southern Kentucky are keeping a close eye on their food supply. The small food pantry feeds dozens of hungry families year-round. The organization is currently operating on the remains of a spring food drive.
It's much the same story across town, where supplies are also running low at Bowling Green's Salvation Army. The organization hopes to begin restocking the shelves for the upcoming holiday season. This is also the first week families can apply for Christmas Assistance. The program offers food, even toys to those who qualify. Last year, the Salvation Army assisted more than 2,700 people.
