U.S. Obesity Levels Remain High

American waistlines continue to expand.

About 33-percent of adult men and 35-percent of women were obese in 2005 and 2006.

The survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the rates were slightly higher than the 31 and 33-percent reported in 2003 and 2004.

The adult obesity rate has been climbing since 1980 when it was 15-percent.

The CDC says obesity is most common in adults aged 40-to-59.
