Nurses in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia have entered their third month on the picket line, but there could soon be some good news.
After a day-long meeting Dec. 1, officials with Appalachian Regional
Healthcare presented what they call a new comprehensive proposal.
They say the new 71-page contract includes changes that addresses the nurses' concerns.
Representatives from the union say the new contract is no better than the first one.
"This contract, the way it is right now, it would not be voted in. The nurses would not vote for what they offered us," explained KNA spokesperson Wilma Jones.
ARH officials say the nurses must vote on the new proposal by Dec. 4.
Union-members were hoping to meet with with a federal mediator Dec. 2 in Lexington.
