They unveiled a "Buckle Up" sign outside Franklin-Simpson High School. The unveiling is part of the Drive Smart program that involves seat belt checks and sign placement.

Stephanie Williams is a sophomore and president of Franklin-Simpson's S.A.D.D club and thinks the sign will raise awareness. "I think it's a big deal because recently we've had car accidents and this will just be an eye opener for the students to see that we need to be more careful and safe whenever we're on the roads driving and stuff."

According to the Department of Highways 963 people died in Kentucky crashes in 2003. 67 percent of vehicle occupants were not restrained. Kentucky has the fifth lowest seatbelt use in the United States.
