Many of you may be hitting the polls Tuesday. And when you are picking your candidates you may see the office of constable on the ballot and wonder what exactly a constable does.

According to Kentucky's Constitution a constable is a peace officer with broad powers of arrest and authority. They may execute warrants, summons, subpoenas, and other rules and orders of the court.

Constables may also drive marked cars when patrolling their district. Their pay is based on the fees they collect, like writing tickets.

Constables must be 24 years of age, a Kentucky citizen for two years, and have lived in their district for one year. A constable term lasts for four years. There are six constables in Warren County, one for each district.
