It was a solemn gathering the afternoon of Jan. 5, as family and friends witnessed the body of U.S. Soldier Brian Gorham arrive at the Bowling Green/Warren County Regional Airport.

With the family preparing for Gorham's burial this week, the Jan. 5 turnout was a strong showing of support for the 21-year-old Private First Class.

Dozens of people waited at the airport with flags in hand.

Gorham died Dec. 31, 2007 at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, of wounds sufferered in December when his Humvee rolled over a bomb in Afghanistan.

But in the weeks before the soldier's death, Gorham's parents were reunited with their son.

"We actually got to spend Christmas with him and that's something no one can take away from me," said Toney Gorham, PFC Gorham's father.

Public visitation for Gorham will begin Jan. 6 at 10:00 a.m at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin.

The funeral will be Jan. 8 at 2:00 p.m. also at Crafton Funeral Home, with his burial to follow at Hillsdale Cemetery in Franklin.

My family and I would like to send our sincere sympathies to this Soldiers family. We would like to say that he was and still is a brave for defending his country and will never be forgotten.
