The election polls were busy Tuesday, but so were area farmers, as they try to complete the burley stripping process. One farm in Edmonson County has about a fourth of its burley stripped at this point. It's all part of the process of prepping tobacco for the marketplace in the coming weeks.
Terry Poteet of Poteet Farms says his seventeen acres of tobacco looked good overall this season. He says the curing process hasn't gone as well as he'd like. However, Tuesday's wet weather is beneficial for the tobacco still in his barn, as it prevents the stalks from overdrying.
