Animal abuse caught on tape in Pulaski County prompts the call in Frankfort for a new state law.

Now, lawmaker Stan Lee is pushing what he calls Romeo's Law after a man was convicted for beating his dog, Romeo.

Romeo's Law changes many animal abuse cases from misdemeanor charges to felonies and prison time.

"If anyone had the opportunity to see the videotape of what happened to this young pup, Romeo, which thus the name for the bill, they would get behind this," said Representative Stan lee (R), of Lexington.

The bill could be heard in committee soon.
